There are of a number of cocktails, including the Diplomat, that seem to share a theme around international relations and negotiation. While we can not collaborate this story, we like to think the ceasefire cocktail was born out of epic negotiations and peace talks. A nice idea, without any evidence.

Diplomacy is the profession, activity, or skill of managing international relations, typically by a country's representatives abroad.

Now, we're not going to comment on whether or not managing international relations is helped or hindered with cocktails, but certainly feel that after a long hard day of negotiation, we'd order a diplomat cocktail.

The  ‘ Vesper Martini ‘ is the famous drink that is ordered by James Bond in both the book and the movie Casino Royale.

The fame of the Vesper Martini is a direct result of it being featured in Casino Royale and while Bond drank other cocktails, his desire for his Martini to be "shaken not stirred" has, we are sure, become a cringe statement ensured by bar staff the world over.

So whether or not you decide to shake or stir, this cocktail has to be on everyones cocktail bucket list.
